About the Position

Overview

The Country Management team at BlackRock oversees operations in Germany, Austria, and Central Eastern Europe (EEGA), managing a diverse portfolio of sales, investment, technology, and advisory services. With over 180 professionals, we cater to our clients in these local markets while managing a locally based iShares product range.

This role presents a unique opportunity to collaborate with senior leadership in a dynamic and cooperative setting. The Business Operations Manager will assist the Country COO and Country Manager, focusing on regional representation, management information, governance oversight, and supporting the strategic development and growth of the region.

In this capacity, the Business Operations Manager will play a pivotal role in bridging local business functions with centralized teams across Europe and globally, addressing local needs as they arise.

Role Purpose

As a member of the EEGA Country Management team, the Business Operations Manager reports directly to the Country COO. This team encompasses a wide range of responsibilities and interactions across the region and the global firm.

The Country Management team is instrumental in establishing and monitoring management information and key performance indicators (KPIs), ensuring strong governance and conduct within the region, overseeing budgets, conducting business analyses, and collaborating with partner functions to advance both tactical and strategic initiatives. Additionally, the team is vital in fostering local culture and talent initiatives in partnership with HR.

This role allows for independent engagement with senior management in a supportive environment, providing insights into the operations of a leading asset management firm.

Key Responsibilities
Regional Representation & Strategic Initiatives
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with various corporate functions at both local and global levels.
  • Work closely with local senior management and partner functions to ensure smooth execution of internal events and senior visits, including agenda planning, coordination, and preparation of briefings and materials.
  • Assist in preparing the local COO's and country head's external speaking engagements.
  • Support the region's COO in executing strategic change projects and commercial initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of the region's annual objectives and long-term strategy.

Governance & Oversight
  • Ensure robust regional governance and collaborate with the region's COO on escalations and special assignments as needed.
  • Serve as the secretary for regional governance forums, including the Steering Committee and Operating Committees, ensuring accurate minutes and diligent tracking of action items.
  • Organize Regional Employee Town Halls and events in partnership with various internal business functions.

Communication & Management Insights
  • Assist in developing and monitoring performance metrics for the region.
  • Collaborate with the local HR team to analyze Employee Opinion Surveys and create a clear local action plan based on findings.
  • Implement, track, and refine change initiatives while aligning cross-functional efforts.
  • Prepare and distribute employee communications, such as country newsletters.
  • Generate regular and ad-hoc management information and analytical assessments to support local needs.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Previous experience in asset management, financial services, or consulting, with a genuine interest in investments and strategic/business development experience preferred.
  • Fluency in English and German.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A strong team player and self-starter, demonstrating passion, dedication, and energy in daily work.
  • Effective communication skills with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders across various countries and cultures.
  • Able to collaborate within a diverse and dynamic environment, building strong relationships and networks, including remotely.
  • Excellent organizational skills, process orientation, and strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Creative, conceptually strong, and detail-oriented.
  • Capable of multitasking, prioritizing, and delivering results within tight timelines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Innovative, flexible, and maintaining high standards for personal performance, with a willingness to take on additional responsibilities quickly.
