Vestas Power Solutions (VPS) is the hub for developing, refining, and testing new product concepts. Within VPS, you will find our department, Technical Sales Management NCE Central - Onshore, which is a vital part of VPS Region NCE.
Our team is responsible for technical contracting, value engineering, product customization, execution, regional market requirements, product integrity management, and grid compliance.
In the realm of power plant solutions, our group consists of international electrical engineers dedicated to the grid interconnection and compliance of our offerings. Together, we assist in delivering solutions to clients throughout Northern and Central Europe (NCE), with a particular emphasis on the Benelux Region.
Key Responsibilities
As an Electrical Engineer focusing on Power Plant Solutions, your primary responsibilities will encompass:
- Engaging with Transmission and Distribution System Operators to evaluate compliance with Grid Codes and other relevant requirements. Collecting market requirements related to the grid to inform Vestas' R&D for future compliance and efficiency of plant offerings.
- Contributing to the technical value engineering of renewable energy projects for customers, collaborating with the Sales team’s specialists in their respective domains.
- Ensuring adherence to electrical project configurations and requirements from clients and grid transmission operators. Providing prompt responses to client inquiries and preparing clarifications and deviations for tenders.
- Taking charge of relevant technical risk assessments and mitigation strategies during the Value Engineering and Negotiation phases. Managing technical annexes and contract schedules.
- Collecting electrical data and customer/site/grid requirements for project grid integration studies. Initiating and reviewing Electrical Pre-Design (EPD) studies.
- Offering technical support beyond the initial Sales phase. Preparing grid compliance test protocols (plans and procedures) and assisting during test execution.
- Monitoring regional legislation (e.g., Grid Code) and participating in working groups to define market requirements.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- An engineering degree (MEng, BEng, MSc, or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering.
- A solid understanding of regulatory requirements, grid codes, and compliance testing procedures.
- Proficiency in power system evaluations and studies, including steady-state and transient analyses (e.g., short circuit, load flow, FRT, and power quality).
- Familiarity with power system simulation tools such as DIgSILENT, PSCAD, or PSSE.
- Comprehensive knowledge of WTG HV and MV equipment, along with substation technology.
- Project management experience within the wind energy sector is advantageous.
