We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Health and Safety Advisor to become a vital part of our Project Delivery Group (PDG) in Essen, Germany. This dynamic team is devoted to delivering world-class projects globally, leveraging our extensive expertise in sustainable practices, asset management, and operational efficiency.
This role will report to the Regional Director of Project Management & Construction and will functionally report to the Global Director of Health & Safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the implementation, monitoring, and enhancement of the Hatch safety management system in compliance with DIN EN ISO 45001:2015.
- Act as an occupational safety specialist in accordance with § 6 ASiG.
- Manage incident reporting processes, including investigation, statistical analysis, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate and facilitate the deployment of the Hatch Safety Management Information System (iPas SM) across various projects.
- Ensure adherence to legal, standard, and project-specific health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements.
- Develop and execute comprehensive risk assessments.
- Assist in the creation and upkeep of safety data sheets and operational manuals.
- Prepare for and participate in Occupational Safety and Health Committee meetings.
- Support and participate in both internal and external audits.
- Maintain legal compliance through regular monitoring and updates to the legal register.
- Ensure effective performance management, training, and development for all personnel.
- Provide guidance on workers' compensation and rehabilitation processes.
- Support the Global Director of Health and Safety in promoting and enhancing health and safety practices.
- Facilitate the development and execution of project-specific health and safety plans.
- Contribute to the preparation and review of health and safety sections in project proposals.
- Coordinate the compilation of weekly and monthly reports, audits, reviews, and project close-out documentation.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Extensive experience in health and safety management within heavy industrial construction and office environments, with a minimum of 3 years in a senior role.
- Proven track record as an H&S manager in plant engineering, service, or maintenance sectors, with familiarity in relevant standards (ISO 45001, SCC).
- Completed technical education or equivalent technical training.
- Certification as an occupational safety specialist or safety engineer in accordance with § 7 ASiG.
- Exceptional written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to thrive in a self-directed work environment.
- Comfortable working in both office and project site settings.
- Willingness to undertake occasional business travel.
- High proficiency in computer applications.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills in health and safety contexts.
- Fluency in both German and English, with professional proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking.
