We are in search of a Lead On-Premise Platform Engineer to join our SoundCloud Engineering & Infrastructure team. This team is tasked with spearheading the design, implementation, and enhancement of SoundCloud's on-premise architecture while transitioning our existing workloads to a cloud-native framework. As a Lead Engineer, you will identify key technical challenges, propose or adopt solutions, and collaborate with the Cloud Engineering team to develop and deploy these solutions. Additionally, you will review and influence ongoing design, architecture, standards, and operational methods for our services and systems, while evaluating design and code modifications to drive improvements. Your role will also involve participating in code reviews, addressing bugs and issues alongside other teams, and supporting informed decision-making aligned with business and engineering objectives.
We are ideally looking for candidates with:
- Expertise in managing on-premise production workloads (K8s, Linux, Ansible, Chef)
- Hands-on experience in building infrastructure/platforms for team use, coding, and enhancing service availability, scalability, performance, security, resiliency, and efficiency.
- Familiarity with CI/CD systems (GitHub Actions) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
- Experience in supporting SRE operations to troubleshoot critical production issues and managing backlog items to prevent or recover from similar faults.
- A solid foundation in software engineering with proficiency in at least one of the following languages: Typescript, Python, Ruby, or Golang.
- Preferred: AWS Certifications (AWS Certified Solutions Architect Pro or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Pro)
