About the Job
Vattenfall is seeking a skilled Trading Meteorologist to join our team in Hamburg. As a Trading Meteorologist, you will play a crucial role in providing market insights and commercial decision support across all commodity areas.
Your Main Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze weather forecasts and their impact on power and gas markets in Europe, the US, and Asia.
- Communicate weather developments and provide related advice to traders and portfolio managers through various channels.
- Develop and implement weather-driven trading strategies in the short to mid-term horizon.
- Further develop quantitative weather models and tools, and conduct commercially relevant quantitative analyses.
- Automate routines, procedures, and applications for weather-related information and data.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest commercially relevant weather research and provide related advice.
- Contribute to the analysis output and commercial success of BU Trading.
- Educate traders on relevant weather-related topics.
Your Profile
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Trading Meteorologist with a strong academic background in meteorology or a related field. You should have 3+ years of experience in operational weather forecasting in a commercial or trading environment, with a proven track record. You should also have good hydrological and/or wind understanding, mathematical, statistical, and analytical skills, and programming skills in Python.
