Your Role:
In the field of Systems Bio(tech)nology, quantifying enzyme activity within large-scale biochemical networks presents a significant challenge. This involves inferring unknown parameters from incomplete models and data that may contain errors. Bayesian analysis, particularly through Markov Chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) methods, has emerged as a leading approach to tackle these challenges.
This project focuses on adapting MCMC methods for metabolic flux inference. You will develop tailored MCMC algorithms inspired by existing techniques, implementing them within a C++ framework. The algorithms will be validated and benchmarked using realistic case studies.
The project can emphasize either the mathematical theory behind MCMC, the implementation of code for advanced computing systems, or a combination with practical modeling tasks.
Your Qualifications:
- A strong motivation and interest in probability theory, mathematics, and data science.
- Proficient C++ and Python programming skills to bring your ideas to fruition.
- A keen interest in multidisciplinary research driven by curiosity.
