Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Sourcing Manager to join our team at West Pharmaceutical Services. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for sourcing and procuring goods and services to support our operations.
Main Responsibilities:
- Procurement of site-specific requirements, including capital expenditures, maintenance, repair, and operations, services, and materials.
- Analysis and in-depth knowledge of the local procurement market, including supplier base, technologies, competitive environment, market trends, and cost drivers.
- Identification of supply risks and execution of risk mitigation strategies, driving supplier development and initiating supplier quality improvements.
- Supplier management, including developing and maintaining an effective supplier assessment program.
- Achievement of cost reductions and avoidances, creation of cash flow improvements, and lead time reductions.
- Establishment of key supplier agreements, delivering innovative improvements, and maintenance of supplier relationships.
- Participation in or leadership of regional and global procurement projects.
- Collaboration with local and global teams and suppliers to support the development and implementation of strategies.
- Optimization of total costs of the German sites, including the development and implementation of cost-saving programs.
- Development, implementation, and maintenance of procurement plans and best practices.
- Independent negotiation and drafting of individual and framework contracts and awarding them.
- Identification and assessment of risks and benefits of procurement decisions and clear presentation of proposals to mitigate risks.
- Contribution to the annual budget process by providing reliable cost exclusions and realistic forecasts.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of studies or alternative commercial vocational training and many years of relevant experience in strategic purchasing.
- Many years of professional experience in purchasing, ideally in an internationally operating production company.
- Very good experience in supplier and contract management.
- Good knowledge of SAP (MM) and MS Office.
- Very good knowledge of German and English.
- Team player who enjoys working with direct and indirect colleagues.
- Experience in cross-functional projects.
- Strong analytical skills and a solution-oriented approach to work.
- Very good negotiation and communication skills at all levels.
