Position: Professorship in Human-Centered Security (m/f/d) at the Technische Hochschule Deggendorf (THD)
Overview: The Technische Hochschule Deggendorf is seeking a dedicated individual for a full-time position as a Professor or Junior Professor in the field of Human-Centered Security. This role is pivotal in addressing the evolving landscape of cybersecurity, emphasizing the importance of human behavior and social dimensions in security practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a research group focused on Human-Centered Security.
- Develop and implement innovative educational programs, particularly in Security Awareness, Training & Education, utilizing modern approaches such as gamification and virtual reality.
- Oversee the scientific direction of the research area, ensuring high-quality teaching and mentorship for students.
- Engage in the supervision of Bachelor and Master theses in relevant subjects.
- Contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly with existing focuses on Applied Cryptography and Artificial Intelligence.
- Actively seek external funding for research projects and participate in collaborative research networks.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A strong academic background with a completed higher education degree.
- Demonstrated research expertise in areas such as social engineering, cognitive biases, and ethical considerations in information security.
- Experience in teaching at the university level, including curriculum development and the delivery of lectures and practical sessions.
- A proven track record of successful grant applications and participation in national and international research projects.
- Excellent communication skills in both German and English, with the ability to write research proposals predominantly in German.

For the W2 Professorship:
- Completion of a higher education degree.
- Exceptional ability for scientific work, typically demonstrated through the quality of a doctoral dissertation.
- Pedagogical suitability and significant achievements in applying or developing scientific knowledge in a professional context.
For the W1 Junior Professorship:
- Completion of a higher education degree.
- Pedagogical suitability.
- For the Praxis-Track: Demonstrated ability for scientific work, typically evidenced by the quality of a doctoral dissertation.
- For the Promotions-Track: Significant achievements in applying or developing scientific knowledge in a professional context.
