Specialist in Gas Market Design (m/f/d)

BDEW serves as the foremost association for the energy and water sectors in Germany, committed to steering the nation towards climate neutrality while promoting secure and sustainable water management practices.

The Trading and Procurement division acts as the primary resource for all matters related to energy trading within both the German and European frameworks. This includes pivotal areas such as the evolution of market design in energy trading, advancements in market access for wholesale gas, hydrogen, electricity, and CO2 certificates, alongside addressing contemporary challenges in financial market regulation.

Your Responsibilities
  • Autonomously managing topics related to energy trading, with an emphasis on gas market design, climate-neutral gases, and hydrogen.
  • Formulating expert analyses, position papers, and industry viewpoints.
  • Collaborating with both internal and external specialists to investigate issues and propose solutions.
  • Facilitating projects and workshops with various stakeholders.
  • Engaging in advocacy efforts with parliament members and ministry representatives at EU, federal, and state levels.
  • Participating in internal and external committees, representing the association, and engaging in events.
  • Preparing media content on relevant topics, including articles, webinars, informational sessions, and presentations.
Your Qualifications
  • A university degree in political science or economics; experience in the industry is advantageous.
  • In-depth understanding of the gas market, trends in energy policy, and energy economics.
  • Familiarity with gas market access, imbalance management, and capacity allocation is beneficial.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, along with negotiation and project management skills.
  • Fluency in English and proficiency in MS Office applications.
