Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced educational leader to join our team as Assistant Headteacher at Attenborough School in Germany. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and contributing to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school's policies, School Improvement Plan, self-evaluation, practices, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and contribute to the development, implementation, and evaluation of the school's policies, School Improvement Plan, self-evaluation, practices, and procedures.
- Lead on performance as line manager for colleagues, ensuring that they are supported, valued, and held to account for their performance.
- Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school, setting high expectations that inspire, motivate, and challenge pupils, staff, and parents.
- Support the coordination of our Global Citizenship curriculum offer, ensuring intent, implementation, and impact are consistently successful across the school.
- Lead and participate in the monitoring and evaluation of the quality of education being achieved across the school.
- Lead whole school events, including regular assemblies, enhanced curriculum activities, and parent workshops as required.
- Lead whole school improvement projects and areas of responsibility, such as internal CPD assessment, induction processes, and Safeguarding.
- Undertake a part-time teaching commitment, including additional covering of classes where required.
- Demonstrate good subject and knowledge of the extant Early Years Foundation Stage and National Curriculum for England. A subject strength in PE is desirable.
- Provide regular updates on pupil progress through written reports and meetings with parents.
- Support teachers to develop and implement effective teaching and behaviour management approaches in the classroom.
- Develop and maintain systems for keeping pupil records, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
- Analyse school, local, and national data and develop appropriate strategies and interventions.
- Adhere to the expectations outlined in the extant DFE Teacher Standards and work towards achieving the Headteacher Standards.
- Qualified Teacher Status as defined by the Department for Education.
- Recent experience of teaching the National Curriculum for England for a minimum of 5 years and senior leadership experience (leadership of a key stage) in a UK-based or DCS school.
- Evidence of high-quality teaching, setting high expectations, and proven experience of ensuring good progress and outcomes for all pupils.
- Good subject and curriculum knowledge of the National Curriculum and Early Years Foundation Stage for England, with expertise in PE desirable.
- Successful experience of modelling, coaching, and supporting colleagues to achieve improvement.
- Proven experience of making accurate assessments and using assessment tools that inform planning and enable pupils to improve.
- Proven experience of adapting teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils.
- Demonstrate effective behaviour management that ensures a good and safe learning environment.
- Willing to make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.
