Job Summary

LivaNova PLC is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our team in the development of advanced medical devices. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-safety microcontroller-based software responsible for sensor interfaces, actuator control, and complex clinical functionalities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop software for medical devices, ensuring compliance with medical quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system engineers, marketing, and clinicians, to define product requirements and ensure software meets customer needs.
  • Develop software architecture, considering constraints from legacy products and interacting with hardware engineers to overcome possible hardware challenges.
  • Ensure software quality through static/dynamic code analysis tools, unit tests, integration tests, and code reviews.
  • Support root-cause analysis and resolution of software anomalies using debug and measurement tools.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
  • Strong programming skills in Embedded C++.
  • Strong knowledge of microcontroller-based embedded systems, mainly ARM processors, and capable of reading data-sheets and schematics.
  • Strong knowledge of communication protocols like I2C, SPI, UART, RS232.
  • Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (e.g., Keil RTX or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with debuggers and oscilloscope.
  • Experience with static/dynamic code analysis tools (e.g., Polyspace, Vectorcast).
  • Experience with CAN Bus and related test and debugging tools (e.g., CANoe).
  • Knowledge of SCM tools like SVN, GIT, JIRA, Eclipse IDE, ClearCase, etc.
  • Knowledge and previous experience working with Agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Application Lifecycle Management tools like Polarion.
  • Knowledge of EU, US, and international medical quality, safety standards (IEC 62304, ISO 14971, ISO 13485).
