Position Overview

As an MLOps Engineer at understandAI GmbH, you will empower machine learning teams to develop, deploy, and manage models effectively while ensuring optimal data handling. Working within a cross-functional team responsible for end-to-end product delivery, you will collaborate closely with machine learning engineers and DevOps professionals.

This position combines elements of systems and software engineering, emphasizing the importance of coding and automation. You will have the opportunity to lead the implementation of specific solutions and share your expertise with fellow team members. Your work will reflect the principles of DevOps, focusing on reliability through engineering and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and sustain the next generation of our machine learning infrastructure, focusing on:
    • Model development
    • Data management
    • Model operation, management, and monitoring
    • Cost transparency
  • Develop user-friendly tools to assist ML engineers
  • Collaborate with ML engineers to drive implementation
  • Work closely with DevOps specialists
  • Encourage a culture of MLOps within the team
  • Continuously assess cutting-edge MLOps solutions relevant to our needs
  • Identify opportunities for automation to enhance efficiency, reliability, and scalability
Qualifications for Success
  • Proficient in MLOps tools
  • Extensive experience with at least one cloud platform, preferably Google Cloud
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes
  • Basic understanding of machine learning concepts
  • Strong programming skills in a high-level language such as Python, JavaScript, or Java
  • Experience in large-scale system design, with a solid grasp of UNIX/Linux, networking, and security protocols
  • Proven ability to lead projects and inspire team members
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills
  • Educational background in Computer Science or equivalent experience as an MLOps professional
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
