Postdoctoral Researcher in Wearable Technology

Are you interested in pioneering advancements in wearable electromyography (EMG) sensor systems aimed at assisting individuals with paralysis? This role offers a unique opportunity to explore the feasibility of measuring electromyographic signals from the legs of individuals with paraplegia and tetraplegia for potential neural interfacing applications.
Join our dynamic Neuromuscular Physiology and Neural Interfacing Laboratory (n-squared lab) as a research assistant or PhD student. Our lab, established in 2020, is set to receive significant funding from the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) for a collaborative project with the Chair of Factory Automation and Production Systems (FAPS).
Project GoalsThis initiative focuses on creating an innovative sensor kit that integrates multiple sensors for EMG and navigation, empowering individuals with paralysis to control wheelchairs autonomously and intuitively. This project aligns seamlessly with our recently secured grants, totaling over 3 million EUR, aimed at translating cutting-edge concepts into practical medical applications.
Research FocusOur laboratory is dedicated to understanding the intricate mechanisms of the neuromuscular system during natural movements, examining both healthy individuals and those with pathologies such as stroke, spinal cord injuries, and motor neuron diseases. We have gathered preliminary evidence indicating that our proposed technologies are not only effective but also user-friendly, allowing us to decode intended movements in patients who have been unable to move their hands for over 15 years.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop mechatronic devices

Essential Qualifications:
- Master's degree or equivalent in mechatronics, electrical engineering, or related fields
- Fundamental programming skills in C++ and Python
- Proficiency in English
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge of German for administrative and project management tasks
This is a fixed-term research project.
CompensationSalary will be based on TV-L E 13.
Work HoursThis position is full-time.
