Power Distribution Systems Engineer

Volocopter GmbH is on the lookout for a talented and forward-thinking Power Distribution Systems Engineer to enhance our dynamic team. In this role, you will be pivotal in guaranteeing that the aircraft's power distribution systems—both high voltage and low voltage—along with their components, fulfill all functional, performance, certification, and safety standards.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with fellow engineers specializing in power distribution systems to manage the development of components such as high voltage power centers, circuit breaker panels, low voltage emergency batteries, and overhead electrical control panels.
- Create and evaluate design documentation from both internal and external sources, ensuring compliance with the relevant system and component requirements.
- Draft and assess Electrical and Communication Interface Control Documents related to the power distribution system.
- Manage the release of parts and assemblies within the Aircraft Engineering Bill of Materials.
- Document compliance and non-compliance with industry standards and regulations, ensuring adherence to guidelines such as SC-VTOL, ARP-4754, DO-254, DO-178, and DO-160.
- Work in tandem with certification engineers to confirm that design and development activities align with certification requirements.
- Review technical documentation from suppliers and partners to ensure compliance and address any discrepancies.
- Assist safety engineers in understanding system dynamics for safety assessments, including reviewing failure modes in FMEAs, CMAs, and PRAs.
- Partner with the testing and verification team to establish test plans and ensure successful validation of the electrical design.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in the aerospace sector or equivalent complex systems development, focusing on electrical system components and integration.
- Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards and regulations relevant to aerospace and complex systems.
- Proficiency in requirements management tools and systems engineering methodologies.
- Capability to produce and review engineering documentation, including design descriptions and test plans.
- Fluency in English is essential.
Preferred Skills:
- In-depth understanding of aviation electrical components and their functionalities.
- Strong grasp of electrical monitoring systems and methodologies.
- Familiarity with high voltage safety regulations and standards.
- Experience with engineering tools for simulation and analysis.
- Knowledge of emerging trends in high voltage and low voltage power distribution technologies.
- Understanding of communication buses and their integration within power distribution systems.
- Experience with model-based systems engineering principles.
