Job Description

In the field of infectious disease modeling, our research group at the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate to contribute to the development of new statistical methods for generating, evaluating, and combining infectious disease nowcasts and short-term forecasts.

The successful candidate will work on the development of statistical prediction methods, as well as expert and crowd forecasts of disease spread. The position will be part of a DFG Emmy Noether Junior Researcher Group and will involve collaborations with partners in the United Kingdom and the United States.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistics, mathematics, or epidemiology, with a focus on statistics. Programming skills in R or Python are also essential, as well as fluency in written and spoken English. A strong commitment to research ethics and teamwork is also required.

The position is suitable for PhD studies and will provide the opportunity to work with experienced researchers in the field. The salary category is 13 TV-L, depending on the fulfillment of professional and personal requirements.

Requirements
