Postdoctoral Researcher

We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at DESY. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and applying simulation-based inference (SBI) and diffusion methods in the context of the ATLAS experiment at the LHC. The researcher will also be expected to deploy the SBI toolkit on distributed computing systems and extend the SBI methods to improve interpretability.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop and apply SBI and diffusion methods for data analysis in the ATLAS experiment
- Deploy the SBI toolkit on distributed computing systems
- Extend SBI methods to improve interpretability
- Apply SBI methods to analysis of LHC data
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced researcher with a strong background in physics or informatics. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in physics or informatics and excellent knowledge of particle physics. Experience with statistical data analysis and machine learning is also essential. Proficiency in open-source machine learning libraries such as PyTorch or TensorFlow is required, as well as experience with distributed computing systems, HPCs, and containerisation. Strong programming skills in Python and C++ are also necessary.
