We are seeking a highly skilled Machine Learning Scientist to join our team at ECMWF. As a key member of our Earth System Modeling section, you will be responsible for developing and applying cutting-edge machine learning techniques to support our climate modeling efforts.
Our team is working on several exciting projects, including the WarmWorld and EXPECT initiatives, which aim to develop next-generation climate models and improve our understanding of climate change. You will have the opportunity to contribute to these projects and work with a talented team of researchers and scientists.
As a Machine Learning Scientist, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying machine learning models to analyze and predict climate-related phenomena. You will work closely with our climate modeling team to integrate machine learning techniques into our modeling framework and develop new methods for climate data analysis.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual with a strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and climate modeling. You should have a proven track record of developing and applying machine learning techniques to real-world problems and be familiar with large-scale machine learning frameworks and high-performance computing environments.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and apply machine learning techniques to support climate modeling efforts
- Design and develop machine learning models for climate data analysis and prediction
- Work closely with the climate modeling team to integrate machine learning techniques into our modeling framework
- Develop new methods for climate data analysis and visualization
- Collaborate with other researchers and scientists to advance our understanding of climate change
- PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field
- Strong background in machine learning, deep learning, and climate modeling
- Experience with large-scale machine learning frameworks and high-performance computing environments
- Excellent programming skills in Python or other relevant languages
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
