PhD Position in Plant Systems Biology: Unlocking the Secrets of Plant Omics Data

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD candidate to join our team at Forschungszentrum Jülich, a leading research center in Europe. As a PhD student in Plant Systems Biology, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that aim to understand the complex interactions between plants and their environment.
Key Responsibilities- Analysis and integration of diverse biological data from the field of plant sciences, including large-scale genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic, metabolomic, and single-cell data, using advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI).
- Development of novel tools and algorithms in the area of omics data analysis and integration.
- Publication of research findings in international journals and presentation at conferences.
- Supervision of Bachelor and Master students.
- Master's degree in bioinformatics, biology, or a related field, with experience in the relevant field.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Java, Rust, C/C++, and statistical analysis using R/BioConductor/python.
- Experience with the analysis and integration of high-throughput data, such as NGS, single-cell data, metabolite profiling, and plant phenotyping data.
- Experience with the application of AI for data analysis and interpretation is an advantage.
- Experience with plant omics data is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team in an international and interdisciplinary environment.
- Excellent communication skills in English are mandatory.

The position is initially for a fixed term of 3 years. Pay in line with 65% of pay group 13 of the Collective Agreement for the Public Service (TVöD-Bund) and additionally 60% of a monthly salary as special payment ('Christmas bonus'). Pay higher than the basic pay may be possible.
