TÜV SÜD, a leading provider of certification and risk assessment services, is seeking a highly skilled Wind Turbine Site Assessment and Loads Specialist to join our team of experts in the wind energy sector.

About the Role

As a Wind Turbine Site Assessment and Loads Specialist at TÜV SÜD, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to clients throughout the project lifecycle, from planning and construction to operation and maintenance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop project objectives and timelines for wind turbine site assessment and loads projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to clients during the planning, construction, commissioning, and operation phases of wind energy projects.
  • Conduct design reviews in accordance with agreed-upon timelines.
  • Maintain up-to-date procedures and technical templates.
  • Support business development activities to ensure a steady pipeline of work for the team.
  • Prepare prequalification questionnaires, proposals, and offers.
  • Ensure that all activities are performed in a safe and compliant manner, adhering to TÜV SÜD's and clients' safety systems.
Requirements
  • MSc in Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field.
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with relevant tools, codes, regulations, standards, and guidelines for wind turbine site assessment, loads, mechanics, structure, and control.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to find creative solutions to project challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Knowledge and experience with site assessment software for wind conditions (WAsP, WindPro, or similar).
  • Knowledge and experience with the IEC standard and aeroelastic simulation software (Bladed, HAWC2, Fast, or similar).
  • Competence in data analysis (Matlab, Python, or similar).
  • Knowledge and experience with standard office software, including the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Confidence, pragmatism, and excellent communication and assertiveness skills, as well as a customer-focused approach.
Desirable Requirements
  • General engineering skills in mechanical and structural design, including steel design, composite materials, rotating machinery, aerodynamics, hydrodynamics, and geotechnical design.
  • Experience in meteorological evaluation.
  • Confidence with wave simulation and load analysis at various levels of fidelity (Morison equation, Boussinesq approximation, OrcaFlex, and similar).
  • Experience with measurements and testing according to ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Experience with type certification and project development for wind turbines according to IECRE.
  • Member of or/and charter holder with a relevant engineering body.
