About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled student to support our research and experiments in optical sensing, with a focus on smart instruments and medical robotics. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, develop innovative solutions, and collaborate with a young and dynamic team.

Your Responsibilities

• Develop and test smart instruments and medical imaging devices using multiple optical sensing modalities.
• Analyze data generated by optical sensing-based hardware and software.
• Help with the development of research-grade prototypes in lab settings.
• Research existing solutions in the scientific and patent literature and tailor solutions to our needs.
• Conduct and evaluate experiments based on free space and fiber-based optical systems.

Your Profile

• A bachelor's degree and enrollment in a master's program in mechanical, electrical, or biomedical engineering, optics and photonics, computer science, physics, or a related field.
• Good understanding of the fundamentals of optics and experience with optical systems and signal processing algorithms.
• Programming knowledge in at least one of the following: Python, Matlab, C/C++, or CUDA.
• Excellent organization, problem-solving, and communication skills (English and/or German).
• Possession of a strong passion for innovation and enthusiasm for new technologies.
