About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Functional Safety Engineer to join our team at Evonik. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of our process plants in the chemical industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough testing and evaluation of functional safety in process plants, taking into account cybersecurity requirements.
- Prepare and implement safety plans and reports according to IEC 61511 standards.
- Support in the preparation of risk analyses and evaluation of safety requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate security functions into the process architecture.
- Conduct security audits and reviews to ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and technical rules.
Requirements
- Completed studies in electrical engineering or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in automation planning or EMR maintenance for chemical process plants.
- Strong knowledge of safety instrumented systems (SIS), safety integrity level (SIL), and safety requirement specifications (SRS).
- Experience in carrying out risk analyses and evaluating or implementing safety requirements using process control technology.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with other departments and external partners.
- Fluent written and spoken German and English.
