Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Applications Engineer to join our team at Canadian Solar Inc. in Germany. As a key member of our Business Development department, you will provide technical expertise to support our energy storage solutions and play a crucial role in the pre-sales activities of utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the technical liaison for the Sales team with customers and partners, providing expert guidance on product specifications and value engineering discussions.
  • Analyze RFPs and customer documentation to determine project scope, schedule, specifications, risk, and technical requirements.
  • Develop size models and conceptual drawing sets, including electrical single-line diagrams and site layouts.
  • Prepare technical documentation for proposals and coordinate the bid package preparation with other departments.
  • Collaborate with sales staff, engineering, and procurement to ensure complete and shared project understanding and priorities.
  • Conduct technical presentations and provide clarifications to customers and other departments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferably Electrical or Mechanical) is required; a graduate degree is strongly preferred.
  • Direct experience in battery energy storage systems or utility-scale solar, preferably as a Senior Applications Engineer.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or related software.
  • Exceptional technical aptitude, including the ability to read and fully understand engineering schematics, technical advisory reports, and technology reviews.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory standards in Germany related to energy storage and grid-interactive inverters.
  • Global perspective awareness and direct experience working across diverse cultures in a multinational company would be beneficial.
  • An excellent time manager, able to balance multiple projects and prioritize a broad variety of issues, initiatives, and objectives concurrently.
