Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled SDN & Packet Network Engineer to join our team at Colt. As a key member of our network operations team, you will be responsible for providing 24/7 technical support to our customers globally.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve faults across our pan-European MPLS infrastructure and IP services.
  • Participate in a 24/7 shift pattern to ensure seamless support to our customers.
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of our customers' bespoke networks and services.
  • Provide professional interface to customers, acting as a Single Point of Contact for all their issues.
  • Build and maintain working relationships with key interconnect partners and vendors.
  • Manage and coordinate tasks assigned to other teams, such as Field Maintenance or Technical Assistance Centre.
  • Maintain accurate records of events throughout a fault duration using our Remedy-based Fault Management System.
  • Resolve or escalate faults as appropriate, according to product SLAs.
  • Identify, plan, and implement solutions for recurring problems on IP and Ethernet networks.
  • Generate technical reports for customer RFO/RCA requests.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Direct experience in Layer 1-2-3 services and technologies, including IP fundamentals and various protocols.
  • Working experience with implementing, diagnosing, and troubleshooting IP access, MPLS, and VPN solutions across a pan-European network.
  • Understanding of LAN (Ethernet) based products and experience with UNIX-based applications and troubleshooting tools.
  • Experience with network management and support systems, such as Netcool, SMARTS, or CiscoWorks.
  • Fluent German language skills are mandatory.
