Director of Sales Operations - Travel Sector
This is a crucial leadership position within a dynamic and expanding travel organization. The selected individual will be an integral part of the management team, responsible for overseeing Sales and Customer Experience in the DACH region.
Preferred Experience: Background in the travel industry is highly desirable for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales Team Leadership:
- Recruit, onboard, and mentor Sales Specialists.
- Establish targets, performance metrics, and standards for Associate Sales Directors.
- Collaborate with Sales Managers and internal departments (e.g., IT) to innovate processes and improve operational efficiency.
- Conduct regular one-on-one performance reviews with Associate Sales Directors to set objectives and assess progress.
- Encourage personal growth through annual development plans and ongoing evaluations.
- Organize training sessions with both internal and external experts.
- Plan and facilitate team-building activities, both on-site and off-site.
- Inspire the team through incentives, competitions, and public acknowledgment.
Team Collaboration and Culture:
- Ensure effective collaboration among Sales Managers and teams, sharing best practices.
- Lead by example, embodying company culture and values, prioritizing tasks, communicating effectively, and achieving results.
- Work alongside the People Services Manager to address employee inquiries and resolve issues.
Customer Experience Oversight:
- Lead a dedicated Customer Experience team, overseeing the establishment of an On Trip team to manage customer inquiries during travel.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of the German market in collaboration with the Marketing Director.
- Address escalated customer concerns and provide support during crisis situations.
Business Management:
- Represent the German operations within the organization, providing regular updates.
- Set and monitor sales quotas, targets, and revenue projections.
- Oversee budgeting, workforce planning, and the overall success of the local office.
- Collaborate with the UK-based Finance team on reporting and audits.
- Develop strategies to enhance revenue per lead, customer satisfaction, loyalty, and team engagement.
- Work closely with the local Marketing team to attract and retain customers in Germany.
- Analyze sales and customer experience data, identify performance gaps, and report findings to leadership.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives, particularly in technology.
- Monitor competitor activities and represent the organization at industry events.
- Enhance professional knowledge by attending workshops, engaging in industry networks, and staying updated on industry trends.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership experience in sales, preferably within the travel sector.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Capability to motivate and engage a team, with a focus on customer experience.
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
