The Role

As a Financial Accountant, you will oversee the daily accounting operations and financial functions of our German office, collaborating with the EMEA finance team as necessary. Your role will involve providing valuable insights and recommendations through comprehensive reporting. You will manage the complete range of accounting and reporting responsibilities for the entity, ensuring that daily financial tasks are executed efficiently and accurately while driving financial transformation and optimizing processes.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintaining a high-quality accounting and reporting framework
  • Conducting daily client money reconciliations
  • Preparing reports related to Bundesbank license conditions
  • Generating detailed finance board packs to provide insightful information
  • Formulating the annual business plan and tracking its execution
  • Compiling year-end statutory financial statements
  • Creating weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for the Board and Group
  • Monitoring and reporting on ongoing capital requirements
  • Submitting monthly VAT and withholding tax returns
  • Staying informed about tax and regulatory obligations, including local and EU laws, as well as industry standards
  • Participating in the implementation of new systems and third-party service providers as needed
  • Ensuring timely and accurate payment of salaries and associated taxes
Qualifications

To excel in this role, you will need:

  • Eligibility to work in Germany (no visa sponsorship)
  • A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in the financial sector
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and German GAAP accounting standards
  • Experience with regulatory capital rules and reporting under EU Investment Firm Regulation
  • Proficiency in preparing and submitting financial statements
  • Understanding of withholding tax and value-added tax requirements
  • Experience interacting with tax authorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • A commitment to continuous learning and the ability to quickly acquire new skills
  • The capacity to thrive in a dynamic and high-pressure environment
  • Fluency in both German and English
  • High proficiency in Excel; knowledge of SQL and Power Query is a plus
