The Role

We are in search of a dedicated individual to guide our daytime newsroom team, responsible for delivering news segments to our national, regional, and local radio brands within the Bauer Media Group network.

As the Afternoon Newsroom Supervisor, you will oversee all content distributed to client stations as part of our network news service.

Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that our editorial standards remain exemplary across all brands and that our news segments adapt to the evolving needs of our audience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assume comprehensive editorial oversight for daytime content directed to Network Stations, ensuring all narratives are crafted in alignment with established journalistic principles.
• Guarantee a steady flow of news to client stations while upholding high editorial standards.
• Collaborate closely with reporters, correspondents, and the desk-based news team, taking charge of writing and preparing stories on significant breaking news.
• Bring forth your experience as a broadcast journalist, demonstrating exceptional people management skills, and the ability to produce and present bulletins to the highest standards.
• Identify and nurture new talent, aligning their development with the organization's needs.
• Facilitate training for new personnel to ensure they meet professional standards, including technical proficiency, before going on air.
• Act in a supervisory capacity as required.

• Highly organized and efficient, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• A collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.
• Proficient in writing concise news articles under tight deadlines.
• Possess a keen sense for news, with the ability to discern the most compelling stories.
• Comprehensive understanding of the news cycle.
• Familiarity with Burli or similar news management systems.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in news editing, reporting, and writing.
• Exceptional communication skills with the ability to lead and influence a team.
• High energy and motivation to meet demanding daily deadlines.
• A relevant third-level qualification in media or journalism.
