ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a dynamic and skilled professional to take on the role of Senior Accounting Manager for our EMEA operations across multiple countries. In this pivotal position, you will be instrumental in steering the financial and accounting functions, ensuring a seamless close process, enhancing systems and procedures, and maintaining robust policies and controls. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills, a strong operational and technical accounting foundation, and a proactive mindset aimed at achieving results. This role promises both challenges and rewards, providing a platform for leadership engagement and influence within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the financial statement closing process (monthly, quarterly, and annually) to ensure accuracy and timeliness in compliance with US GAAP, including the review of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Conduct quarterly assessments of the Balance Sheet and Income Statement for the EMEA region.
  • Collaborate closely with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and other key financial areas to ensure accurate accounting for accruals, taxes, inter-company transactions, and expenses.
  • Supervise the preparation of annual financial statements, including footnote disclosures and management discussions for each EMEA entity.
  • Work cross-functionally with international teams to standardize and enhance the International Accounting process, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and local reporting requirements, as well as SOX initiatives.
  • Identify and implement improvements in policies and procedures to ensure the accuracy of financial reporting, optimizing and automating accounting processes for a more efficient close.
  • Engage with outsourced providers on ERP system design, implementation, and enhancement projects, particularly those related to new processes and accounting policies.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field, with a solid understanding of US GAAP, general ledger structure, and financial statements.
  • In-depth knowledge of consolidation reporting and foreign currency translation and remeasurement.
  • Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, manage multiple responsibilities, and work independently to achieve objectives.
  • Innovative mindset towards modern processes and tools, with experience in implementing and enhancing accounting and financial technologies. Proficiency in Excel and data management is essential.
  • Self-motivated, hands-on leader capable of collaborating effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong sense of urgency and results-oriented approach in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in managing and developing a diverse accounting team in a dynamic setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with a diverse range of peers and stakeholders; a constructive and solution-focused attitude is essential. Fluency in both German and English is required.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.
  • Experience with Oracle R12 is preferred.
