Position Overview
As a Critical Facilities Maintenance Specialist at Equinix, you will execute advanced preventative and corrective maintenance on critical facility systems. You will oversee infrastructure operations, work closely with global clients, assist in vendor selection, and support the team during incidents, changes, problem-solving, and maintenance tasks. Your role will involve handling complex assignments that require expert judgment while contributing to the formulation of innovative concepts and procedures for standard operations. You will support the overall team in achieving its objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Facility / Infrastructure Maintenance
- Conduct advanced preventative and corrective maintenance on-site for critical facility systems.
- Supervise skilled maintenance repairs, corrective actions, and intricate installations.
- Address complex incidents and develop new procedures to enhance team performance.
- Monitor the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and address alarms for intricate tasks requiring independent initiative.
- Lead and coordinate critical infrastructure operations effectively.
- Implement energy efficiency strategies and identify potential improvements.
- Inspect the operation and maintenance of plumbing, fire suppression, and life-safety systems.
- Engage in complex assignments that necessitate independent action and proactive problem-solving.
- Collaborate with management to define project scopes for life-cycle maintenance and critical replacements.
Customer Engagement
- Enhance customer satisfaction by promptly addressing inquiries and requests.
- Organize regular meetings with clients to discuss ongoing operational activities.
Vendor Management
- Assist in selecting vendors for outsourced maintenance tasks.
- Guide vendors on specialized tasks to ensure compliance with standards and requirements.
- Develop maintenance scripts and submit them for approval.
- Oversee the work approval process for critical service providers, ensuring thorough communication and review.
- Verify implementation changes and updates to technical documentation for equipment.
- Participate in regular assessments of vendor performance.
Site Administration & Incident Response
- Complete detailed site logs and data collection for permit issuance.
- Identify and escalate process discrepancies to management.
- Recognize Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and propose new procedures.
- Act as a support team lead for operational processes and ensure adherence.
- Provide assistance to on-site staff during critical incidents.
- Respond to all on-site incidents, including significant failures and delays.
- Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts.
- Aid management in maintaining technical documentation.
Work Orders & Additional Projects
- Fulfill advanced work requests and circuit installations.
- Coordinate troubleshooting and maintenance of office equipment as necessary.
- Implement modifications to mechanical, electrical, and specialized systems as directed.
- Conduct capacity management reviews.
- Lead infrastructure project initiatives.
Collaboration
- Work with others to resolve challenging facility incidents and identify underlying issues.
- Serve as a support team lead in diagnosing component-level faults and recommending new procedures.
- Utilize external resources as needed.
- Plan inventory requirements to maintain optimal stock levels of critical components.
- May act as an escalation point for inventory management processes.
- Advise team members on repairs and preventative maintenance.
- Lead the implementation of complex projects requiring specialized skills.
