Job Title: Service Engineer

Valmet is a global leader in developing and supplying technologies, automation, and services for the pulp, paper, and energy industries. We are seeking a skilled Service Engineer to join our team in Karlsruhe, Germany, with a focus on the Leipzig area.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Service Engineer to perform on-site field maintenance and demand service jobs for Valmet Maxum Process Gas Chromatographs. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing preventive maintenance, start-up, and commissioning of new analyzers, as well as corrective maintenance and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform on-site field maintenance and demand service jobs for Valmet Maxum Process Gas Chromatographs.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance, start-up, and commissioning of new analyzers.
  • Perform corrective maintenance and troubleshooting of complex analytical systems.
  • Select parts, drawings, and additional information needed to perform the service job to the highest level of availability.
  • Answer technical customer questions, troubleshoot over the phone, and offer solutions and support to customers.
  • Provide guidance to colleague field service technicians and work as a team to provide the highest level of support and ensure skill sharing.
  • Provide hands-on training and instruction to colleagues.
  • Continuously grow and improve skills to stay current with products and technologies.
  • Work with Research and Development to ensure the factory is aware of field issues or successes.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, process engineering, or chemical engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with Process Gas Chromatographs, Sample Conditioning Systems, and active within the Chemical and Refining Industries.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of Process Gas Chromatographs, Sample Conditioning Systems, and System Integration, including alarming and safety systems, electrical wiring, digital networking, and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience developing and maintaining good customer relationships.
  • Very good German and English spoken and written.
