We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD candidate to join our team at the Lab of Structural Membrane Biochemistry. Our research focuses on understanding the molecular causes of mitochondrial membrane protein-related diseases.
Research TopicThe successful candidate will work on deciphering the functional role of the mitochondrial membrane protein MPV17 and investigating its structure using high-resolution methods such as NMR and cryo-EM. The goal is to better understand the molecular causes of MPV17-related diseases and develop a specific therapy.
Requirements- Highly motivated and skilled PhD candidate
- Familiarity with recombinant production and purification of membrane proteins in E. coli
- Knowledge in biophysical techniques for the characterization of membrane proteins
- Experience in NMR and/or other structural techniques is a plus
The position is co-funded by the European Union HORIZON-MSCA--COFUND program ArchiFun. The successful candidate will be based at the Bavarian NMR Center of the Technical University of Munich and the Helmholtz Center Munich, which houses state-of-the-art NMR equipment and other biophysical facilities.
