Mathematical Optimization Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled PhD researcher to join our team at the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics ITWM. As a PhD researcher, you will have the opportunity to work on innovative mathematical questions and develop practical solutions for real-world problems.
About the ProjectOur research focuses on developing and investigating methods for taking into account non-linear relationships in the design of experiments. This involves developing prediction models, calibrating model parameters, and optimizing experimental designs. You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of topics, from process optimization to experimental design, and contribute to the development of new mathematical methods and tools.
Responsibilities- Develop and investigate methods for non-linear relationships in experimental design
- Develop prediction models and calibrate model parameters
- Optimize experimental designs and develop practical solutions for real-world problems
- Collaborate with our team of researchers and engineers to develop new mathematical methods and tools
- Scientific university degree in mathematics, computer science, or physics
- High level of abstraction and mathematical problem-solving skills
- Experience with mathematical modeling and numerical methods
- Good German and English language skills
