Job Summary
As a Technical Lead, Critical Facility Engineer at Equinix, you will perform highly skilled preventative and corrective maintenance on critical facility systems. You will lead critical infrastructure operations, collaborate with global customers, facilitate vendor selection, and support the team during incidents, changes, and problem-solving activities.
Responsibilities
- Perform highly skilled preventative and corrective maintenance on-site to critical facility systems
- Supervise highly skilled maintenance repairs, corrective maintenance, and complex installations
- Resolve advanced incidents and develop new procedures and techniques to support the team
- Monitor the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolve alarms for complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve
- Lead and coordinate critical infrastructure operations
- Implement energy efficiency measures and identify areas of opportunities
- Inspect operation and maintenance of plumbing, fire suppression, and life-safety systems
- Consistently work on complex assignments requiring independent action and a high degree of initiative to resolve issues
- Develop project scope with management for life-cycle maintenance/end of life infrastructure projects and critical replacements
Customer Satisfaction
- Drive customer satisfaction scores by timely responding to customer requests
- Conduct regular customer meetings about current operational activities
Vendor Support
- Facilitate selection of vendors for outsourced maintenance activities
- Direct vendors on highly skilled tasks to ensure that maintenance activities are carried out per standards and requirements
- Create scripts for maintenance and submit
- Track and implement the work approval process for critical service providers
- Inspect implementation changes/updates to technical files for plants and equipment
- Contribute to regular vendor performance reviews
Site Administration & Incident Support
- Complete complex site logs and data gathering for issuing of permits
- Identify and escalate process discrepancies to higher management
- Identify Single Points of Failure (SPOFs) and make recommendations for new procedures
- Act as a support team lead for operating processes and procedures
- Support the on-site staff during critical incidents
- Respond to all on-site incidents, including major failures, significant problems, and delays
- Assist with RCA (Root Cause Analysis)
- Assist management with maintaining technical documents
Work Orders & Additional Projects
- Complete highly skilled work requests and circuit installations
- Coordinate more advanced troubleshooting and maintenance of office equipment
- Make moderate changes to mechanical, electrical, and specialized systems
- Perform capacity management reviews
- Lead infrastructure project activities
Collaboration
- Collaborate with others to resolve highly difficult facility incidents
- Act as a support team lead when identifying component-level faults
- Utilize resources outside of the department, as necessary
- Plan inventory needs to maintain optimal stock levels of critical parts and equipment
- May act as an escalation point for processes relating to maintaining inventory
- Advise other team members on repairs and preventative maintenance
- Act as a support team lead on implementing highly skilled, complex projects
