Diakonie-Klinikum Stuttgart, an academic teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Tübingen, is a modern, high-performance, and dynamically growing clinic with a confessional background. Located in the heart of Stuttgart, we provide care to approximately 21,000 inpatients and 90,000 outpatients annually with a team of around 1,850 employees and 400 beds in 8 main departments.
The surgical clinic at Diakonie-Klinikum Stuttgart, represented by the Medical Director (m/w/d), comprises several main departments, each led by a chief surgeon.
The Department of General and Visceral Surgery offers a comprehensive treatment spectrum as a regional provider, with two main areas of focus. Firstly, the surgery of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract, and secondly, hernia surgery (national reference center, cooperation partner of the University of Tübingen) including reflux surgery.
Our goal is to develop and expand the future-oriented oncological visceral surgery with a focus on colorectal surgery. A unique feature is currently the MIC and robotic-assisted surgery in all indications. To this end, the surgical clinic, together with the urology department, already has two Da Vinci Xi surgical robots available. With the certification of our colon center (currently in transit status), we aim to establish and consolidate another focus of our certified oncological center. In addition to certification, we plan to establish and develop an interdisciplinary visceral medicine center, together with gastroenterology, with high priority and support from the sponsor.
On the other hand, it is essential to maintain and further develop the treatment focus of hernia surgery with a national reputation within general and visceral surgery, as well as to provide new impulses for the long-standing interdisciplinary pelvic floor center through new diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
