Role Overview
This position is integral to the Cuxhaven Leadership Team. As the site’s financial expert, the Director will oversee financial reporting and management for the entire site, which includes balance sheets, income statements, Sarbanes-Oxley control documentation, execution processes, and business relationships. As a senior leader, the Director will engage in strategic discussions, health and safety initiatives, and contribute to leadership dialogues, including quality updates and plant-wide initiatives. The role also involves advocating for shareholder interests in all business discussions and providing primary support to the general manager, leading the business performance reporting to senior management.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the senior financial analyst and oversee all aspects of their work, including performance management and preparation for metric reporting and annual business planning.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of expenses, variances, and inventories, while maintaining precise forecasts of monthly results.
- Manage financial control processes, financial planning segments, reporting, forecasting, and special projects, including support for six sigma initiatives.
- Implement and maintain Sarbanes-Oxley controls, ensuring appropriate measures are in place for all site assets and transactions.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of site operations and the broader Elanco business to maximize value delivery.
- Provide insightful metrics and analyses that foster focus, alignment, and accountability among business partners.
Key Objectives/Deliverables:
- People management and development.
- Financial stewardship, including involvement in control processes and management reporting.
- Reporting on financial KPIs to site management and global finance.
- Facilitate business planning and accountability for site commitments.
- Engage proactively in leadership teams to enhance decision-making and risk management.
- Understand site operations to assist business partners in resource allocation and project evaluation.
- Lead business planning activities, including cost center expense planning and variance analysis.
- Prepare DCF calculations for investment projects and scenarios.
- Collaborate with financial staff across sites to share insights and drive continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- Experience in accounting or finance, preferably within manufacturing.
- Proficiency in product costing and analytical thinking.
- Strong knowledge of relevant systems (e.g., SAP, SAP BW).
- Effective communication skills across all organizational levels.
- Passion for leading improvements and change initiatives.
- Strategic mindset with strong collaboration skills.
- Fluency in German is required.
Education:
- BS degree in Finance/Accounting or an MBA with a focus on technical or operations.
