Senior Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research Scientist to join our AI innovation team at SAP. As a key member of our research team, you will be responsible for establishing and managing research collaborations with academic and commercial partners.
Our goal is to adapt Foundation Models with SAP data, enabling our customers to run their business processes more efficiently. You will contribute pioneering technical advances to the development of our Foundation Models, including hands-on contributions to model code.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and manage research collaborations with academic and commercial partners
- Contribute to the development of our Foundation Models, including hands-on contributions to model code
- Enable academic research by providing Business AI relevant problem statements, frameworks, and data sets
- Keep the pulse with the research, providing insights into the latest research findings and making them comparable with internal work
- Translate project innovations into research publications and contribute to thought leadership in Foundation Models and Generative AI
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or other relevant disciplines
- Extensive experience with Foundation Models as well as Machine Learning with Graphs (e.g., GNNs)
- Proven experience and deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges associated with collaboration between industrial and academic research
- Candidates must have an academic background in one of the following fields: LLMs, Foundation Models, or Knowledge Graphs. This should be supported by a substantial record of related publications, including recent works, and a well-established network in these fields
- Proficiency in Python, and experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or similar. Optionally, hands-on experience with Neo4j, TypeDB, PyG or similar
- Proven history of exemplary leadership and strategic mindset, complemented by superior organizational abilities
