Research Focus: Our Immunology, Infection, and Pandemic Research (IIP) division is at the forefront of developing advanced diagnostic tools and therapeutic strategies against infectious diseases, particularly those caused by emerging pathogens. We emphasize a multidisciplinary approach, integrating biotechnology, molecular biology, and microbiology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the production and characterization of recombinant proteins in compliance with BSL-2 safety standards.
- Oversee the complete workflow from construct design, molecular cloning, and production in various host organisms to purification and biophysical characterization.
- Contribute to collaborative projects with academic and industrial partners, aiming for impactful scientific publications.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
- Extensive knowledge of protein chemistry, including familiarity with computational structure prediction and engineering tools.
- Minimum of three years of hands-on experience in recombinant protein production, utilizing advanced cloning and purification techniques; experience with viral proteins or antibodies is a plus.
- Proficiency in biophysical methods such as DLS, SEC-MALS, or MST.
- A proactive mindset with a strong desire to explore and implement innovative tools, including AI-based protein design.
- Ability to work independently and in a structured manner, with a commitment to continuous professional development.
- Excellent communication and writing skills in both English and German.
- A collaborative spirit and a strong motivation to engage in interdisciplinary teamwork within the life sciences.
