Job Opportunity: Junior Professorship for Hydrology

The Institute for Environmental Sciences at Rheinland-Pfälzische Technische Universität Kaiserslautern-Landau (RPTU) is seeking a highly qualified candidate for a tenure-track Junior Professorship in Hydrology. As a leading institution in environmental research, we are committed to fostering young talent and promoting interdisciplinary collaboration.

Research Focus

The successful candidate will contribute to the Institute's research focus on ecosystems under the influence of anthropogenic stressors in the context of global change. Specifically, the professorship will focus on the hydrology of surface waters, with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary cooperation and the integration of empirical field research, remote sensing, and modeling techniques.

Teaching Responsibilities

The professor will be responsible for teaching hydrology-related courses in the environmental sciences Bachelor's and Master's degree programs, as well as the Master's degree program in Environmental Engineering. The teaching obligation will follow the regulations of the State Ordinance on Teaching Obligations at Universities in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Requirements

We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in hydrology, a qualified doctorate, and a proven track record of scientific excellence. The ideal candidate will have experience in acquiring third-party funding and implementing third-party funded projects, as well as international visibility and experience abroad. Knowledge of both German and English is required, and the ability to teach in either language is necessary.
