Job Responsibilities

The Commonwealth of Virginia is committed to safety, community service, and excellence. We are seeking two dedicated and customer-oriented professionals to fill the role of Maintenance Superintendent for our regional headquarters.

As a Maintenance Superintendent, you will be responsible for planning, developing, executing, and managing all facets of the maintenance program in alignment with established schedules and budgets. Your duties will include reviewing, planning, and scheduling maintenance requests, prioritizing needs, and determining the necessary equipment, labor, materials, and methods for various maintenance and repair projects. You will ensure adherence to environmental regulations and provide technical guidance to address challenges. This position also requires emergency response capabilities, including directing teams during adverse weather conditions and disaster recovery efforts outside of regular hours.

Minimum Qualifications

• Extensive experience with highway construction and maintenance equipment, materials, and methodologies.
• Proven experience in supervising personnel.
• Proficiency in utilizing computers and software applications.
• Ability to interpret road and bridge schematics.
• Demonstrated skill in delivering excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage budgets, develop cost estimates, and oversee inventory.
• Capability to interpret and apply relevant policies and procedures.
• Proficient in scheduling, planning, and monitoring work activities.
• Competence in data collection, maintaining accurate records, conducting research, and generating reports and correspondence related to personnel, equipment, and materials.
• Valid driver's license.

Additional Considerations

• Experience in road maintenance and construction.
• Background in planning, developing, and managing budgets while monitoring inventory.
• Experience in performance management and applying progressive discipline.
• Experience in leading emergency operations.
• DEQ Erosion and Sediment Control certification is preferred.
• A combination of training, experience, or education in Business Administration, Transportation Operations, or a related field is desirable.
