The DKFZ Hector Cancer Institute, established in collaboration with the University Medical Center Mannheim and the Medical Faculty Mannheim of Heidelberg University, aims to conduct exceptional translational cancer research focusing on precision oncology, cancer prevention, early detection, and survivorship.
The newly formed Division of Policy and Implementation Research for Cancer Prevention is dedicated to bridging the gap between evidence and practical application in cancer prevention strategies.
Your ResponsibilitiesThe selected candidate will spearhead the implementation and analysis of a study investigating the geographical distribution of tobacco and alcohol outlets across Germany. Responsibilities include publishing research findings in reputable journals, engaging in innovative knowledge dissemination strategies for key stakeholders, and contributing to grant writing efforts. Additionally, there will be opportunities to participate in various policy and implementation research initiatives within the division, providing a unique chance to collaborate with experts in cancer prevention, policymakers, and community representatives.
Your QualificationsApplicants should possess both a Master's degree and a PhD in public health, social sciences, or a related discipline. Demonstrated experience in utilizing GIS for health research, along with proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and statistical analysis tools, is essential. A strong interest in policy and implementation research, coupled with a commitment to bridging the gap between evidence and practice, is highly desirable. Some travel may be necessary for fieldwork in Germany. Excellent communication and organizational skills, along with proficiency in English, are required; proficiency in German is advantageous but not mandatory.
