Job Opportunity at Hochschule Furtwangen

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced researcher to join our team at Hochschule Furtwangen. The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and interdisciplinary research project focused on the identification of metabolic signalling molecules released by dying cells.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establish and maintain primary cell models for different types of cell death and transfer them to microfluidic systems
  • Develop and apply multiparameter flow cytometry methods to verify the different types of cell death and identify effects on target cells
  • Analytically characterize metabolic products using established methods based on liquid chromatography-coupled high-resolution mass spectrometry
  • Investigate the mechanistic effects of identified substances and evaluate bioinformatic data sets
  • Collaborate in project management and participate in daily laboratory organization
Requirements:
  • Scientific university degree (Diploma or Master's degree) with a focus on biology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, bioanalytics, biotechnology, pharmacy, molecular medicine, or related subjects
  • Experience in cell cultivation and classical molecular biology methods (e.g. MTT assay, caspase activity assay)
  • Experience in flow cytometry, microfluidics, liquid chromatography (e.g. HPLC, UHPLC), extraction methods for metabolites from biological samples, bioinformatic tools (e.g. R or Phyton), mass spectrometry, or statistical analysis of metabolomics datasets is an advantage
  • Good written and spoken English and German language skills
