Animation Programmer

About the Role

As a key member of our agile development team at Ubisoft, you will work closely with designers and gameplay programmers to implement gameplay interactions using animation technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to plan and implement features, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Develop and maintain high-performance, scalable, and maintainable code using our in-house engine, Snowdrop.
  • Analyze technical feasibility of system/feature specifications, providing expert recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Write clear, well-structured, and documented code, adhering to coding standards and best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews, ensuring code quality and consistency.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry advancements, applying new technologies and techniques to improve our game development process.
  • Extract and interpret relevant runtime system resource information, optimizing performance and resource usage.

Requirements

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional with:

  • Strong knowledge of character animation, IK, procedural, or physics-based animation.
  • Excellent mathematics and physics skills.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming, with expertise in object-oriented development, design patterns, and UML.
  • Experience working with large game codebases, middleware, and associated pipelines.
  • Understanding of speed and memory considerations, with ability to implement basic optimizations.
  • Knowledge of common algorithms, data structures, and patterns, and their application.
  • Ability to analyze unfamiliar code, extend, and refactor existing modules.
  • Ability to debug defects, including memory-related issues and multi-threading.
  • Knowledge of software development methods, such as Test Driven Development, Unit Testing, and Agile.
  • Understanding of console platform development constraints and technical requirements.
  • Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
