Military Aircraft Maintenance Technician

Key Responsibilities
(The following duties are typical, but specific responsibilities may vary based on assignment or contract.)
- Conduct comprehensive maintenance on military tactical aircraft, specializing in UH-60, CH-47, or AH-64 models, including repair, assembly, and modification of various Army and DoD cross-service aircraft, their major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and related systems.
- Install, connect, and calibrate complete systems such as fuel, lubrication, hydraulic, engine, and transmission systems; align fuselage components; balance and install tail rotor assemblies; and rig complete flight control systems.
- Implement authorized modifications and alterations as required.
- Perform operational checks of hydraulic and fuel systems utilizing external power sources and powered ground equipment.
- Inspect and diagnose malfunctions; disassemble to identify issues; adjust, repair, realign, or replace defective components or assemblies.
- Utilize a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices, including gauges, torque wrenches, and diagnostic equipment specific to aircraft models.
- Assess when faulty systems or assemblies can be repaired or require replacement parts, determining the necessary extent of repairs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in reading, applying, and interpreting technical documentation.
- Oversee the work of junior mechanics in the complete assembly, modification, and checkout of aircraft, coordinating with related trades such as general mechanics and sheet metal workers to ensure proper assembly sequencing.
- Complete and maintain records and documentation related to aircraft maintenance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent is mandatory.
- A minimum of five (5) years of relevant aircraft maintenance experience is essential.
- Licensure: FAA A&P or FCC (Elements 1 and 3) is mandatory.
- A valid FAA A&P with at least two (2) years of aviation maintenance experience, including two (2) years on the assigned MDS (UH-60, CH-47, or AH-64), is required.
- All experience must be within the last five (5) years.
- If no A&P license, must hold an FCC License with Elements 1 and 3 and possess three (3) years of aviation maintenance experience, including three (3) years of rotary wing aircraft experience and two (2) years on the assigned UH-60A, CH-47, or AH-64 Mission Design Series (MDS).
- If lacking an FCC License, discuss with the recruiter regarding the willingness to obtain one.
- A valid US Passport is required for international travel.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization (NAC-I T1) Public Trust. US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at the work location.
Germany Specific - TESA Approval: Must qualify for TESA approval with a total of five years of aviation maintenance experience.
Travel: As required to support task orders.
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong communication skills; adaptable and capable of troubleshooting entire aircraft systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, and associated systems principles necessary to complete work tasks effectively.
- Understanding of Quality Control, Production, and Supply procedures relevant to job assignments.
- Ability to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be repaired or require new parts, including the nature and extent of repairs needed.
- Proficient in reading, applying, and interpreting technical data.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
- Ability to climb, stand, stoop, bend, stretch, crouch, and work in physically demanding positions.
- Frequently lift parts and equipment weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Occasionally lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Must be immediately deployable to potential combat areas worldwide.
