Let's goYour missionThe Engineering Manager for the Screening & Risk Services team will lead the development and maintenance of Bitpanda's critical back-end risk infrastructure — including real-time transaction and user screening engines, compliance data-pipelines, alerting and case-management tooling, and integrations with external sanctions / watchlist / identity-verification data providers. This role blends technical oversight with strategic vision: you will define the technical roadmap and enable your team to build scalable, secure, high-throughput systems, as well as overseeing engineering delivery. You will collaborate closely with Compliance, Fraud/Risk Operations, Finance, and other internal stakeholders, ensuring risk-detection logic remains effective, up-to-date, and aligned with evolving regulatory requirements.Define technical roadmaps, and work with a product manager to groom the backlog factoring in technical debt and prioritisation of impactful servicesLead, grow, and inspire your team to perform at the highest level, and successfully deliver their best in a fast-paced environmentFacilitate daily scrum meetings, sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to ensure agile practices are effectively implemented and continuously improvedWork closely with other managers, stakeholders, and teams across the organisation to ensure that the microservices architecture aligns with the broader company objectivesPerform regular 1:1 with your team members to develop career plans and goals. Help your team to maintain resilience in periods of change and ambiguityYou have the ability to lead teams effectively, provide guidance in ambiguous situations, influence technical discussions and are able to contribute to the development and future growth of software engineersYou have experience in a technical leadership role with demonstrated deep knowledge of the development of digital products, good understanding of software architecture all the way from experimentation to continuous improvement in an agile environmentCapability to perform regular performance reviews and derive new development goals or improvement strategies.
