CYBERTEC has been deeply rooted in the PostgreSQL world for over 25 years. We are looking for an experienced DBA to join our team—someone who has not only mastered the theory but is also passionate about sharing their practical experience as a trainer with both seasoned professionals and beginners. Your focus will be on training DBAs and developers across Europe. Your workplace is your home office. For training sessions, you will either connect remotely or be on-site directly at the customer's location (Europe-wide). Tasks Responsibilities: Trainer: You conduct standardized training sessions and customized workshops for DBAs and developers—either remotely or on-site. Topics include Deep-Dive Administration, Performance Tuning, HA Solutions, and Architecture. Content Creation: You create and maintain high-quality training materials (slides, handouts, background information, and blog posts). You explain complex technical relationships in an easy-to-understand manner. Lab Engineering: You design and build practical exercise environments (labs). Whether using Docker, VMs, or the Cloud—you ensure that participants can apply what they’ve learned immediately. Expertise Transfer: You stay at the cutting edge of technology. You test new major releases and features early on to integrate them into the curriculum. Requirements Your Profile Senior PostgreSQL DBA: You have years of experience in administration, tuning, and integration. You know how to keep instances alive in various environments. Didactics & Passion: You can structure technical topics clearly and enjoy sharing knowledge. You have the ability to motivate and guide a group of "techies." Linux & Automation: You are proficient with the shell. You automate lab environments (e.g., using Ansible or scripting). Languages: You are fluent in German and English (written and spoken). You are confident in conducting technical courses in both languages. Willingness to Travel: You appreciate the flexibility of your home office but have no problem traveling throughout Europe for on-site training sessions. Nice to Have HA Expert: You can not only implement Patroni clusters and associated components but also explain how they work during training. Backup Guru: Confident handling of core functionalities and pgBackRest (including S3/Azure/GCS backends). Performance Analyst: You have mastered EXPLAIN ANALYZE, understand the significance of Wait Events, and can guide participants through complex query plans. System Know-how: Understanding of file systems, storage I/O, and kernel tuning under Linux. Soft Skills The "Explainer" Gene: You have the patience and ability to break down complex PostgreSQL internals so that both a Junior Admin and an experienced Senior DBA can understand them. Reading the Room: You notice when the class is losing the thread or when "heads are spinning." You can spontaneously adapt your pace and examples to the group. Composure: Even if a participant asks an extremely specific edge-case question, you stay relaxed. If you don’t know something, it’s not a problem—you know where to look it up and provide the answer later. Empathy for "Admin Pain": You know what it’s like to fix a corrupt backup at 3:00 AM. This practical experience makes you credible and helps you address the real pain points of the participants. Self-Management: You organize your travel planning, lab environment preparation, and appointments independently. We rely on you to ensure the course is ready when it’s booked. Feedback Culture: You can handle criticism and use participant feedback to constantly improve your course materials and teaching style.
