Tasks

The task of a solar technician, also known as a solar PV (photovoltaic) technician, is to install, maintain, and repair solar energy systems. This involves working with various components of the system, including solar panels, inverters, batteries, and monitoring systems. The technician may work on both residential and commercial solar installations, and may be responsible for system installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.

In terms of installation, a solar technician may be responsible for installing solar panels on rooftops, ground-mounted systems, or carports, as well as mounting equipment, wiring components, and installing monitoring systems. They may also be responsible for ensuring that the system meets all safety and building code requirements.

Requirements

We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced solar technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess the following requirements, experience, qualifications and skills in order to fulfill the role:

Requirements:

  • Ability to climb ladders and lift 50 pounds Equivalent
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and at heights
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to safety

Experience:

  • Previous experience working in a related field, such as electrical or mechanical engineering
  • Previous experience installing or maintaining solar energy systems

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or a related field preferred

Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of solar energy systems and components, including solar panels, inverters, batteries, and monitoring systems preferred
  • Familiarity with electrical and wiring systems, as well as safety and building code requirements
  • Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues with solar energy systems and identify solutions
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure that systems are properly installed and maintained
