About you and this role

We are looking for you, an ambitious bachelor’s / master’s student, to support our Digital Operations Center (DOC) by doing an internship project in Augmented reality - How can we enable augmented reality for our location in Wiesbaden, Germany.

The center you will be aligned to, includes a blend of resources from Operations, Manufacturing & Engineering, IT and collaborates closely with other key functions across Dow. The extended team includes personnel with expertise in analytics, process automation, sensors, robotics, and mobility to digitalize Dow’s operations. This multidisciplinary team coordinates with the other Digital Operations Centers across the world to facilitate rapid prototyping of new capabilities to enhance the competitive position of Dow's manufacturing and site facilities.

Project description

Investigate and draft a proposal on how Augmented/ Extended Reality could look like for Dow and how this can be enabled. We need to define how we can enable the usage of Augmented/ Extended Reality in the future. For that we will need to research on the market to understand how the vision could look like, what are our competitors doing, what is already available in the market to that we can start trialing. What is available in the short future, and start detailing a Multi-Generational Plan on how the evolution is going to look like for the next 5+ years.

**Responsibilities**:

- Research, evaluate and report additional use case for Augmented/ Extended Reality
- Identify opportunities and best practices that can be leveraged
- Translate manufacturing requirements into functional specifications
- Collaborate with other teams and expert networks
- Gain an understanding of how these technologies translate to business value in manufacturing or maintenance
- Collaborate with the local project team

**Qualifications**:

- You are currently studying for a bachelor/master’s degree or equivalent, preferably in Computing or Industrial Engineering; Chemical or Electronic Engineering backgrounds are also considered
- You have a good working knowledge of English; German would be a plus
- You have an active interest in digitalization technologies and the future of how we will work in industry utilizing these

Additional notes

You can start between February and April in 2024 for a period of 5-6 months (exact timing to be discussed).
