The Institute of Human Genetics (Director: Prof. Dr. med. R. Siebert) is looking for a- Scientist/PostDoc Life Science (f/m/d) (100 %)- The University Hospital Ulm and its employees stand for a modern and high quality patient care, excellent university research and medical education focused on the future as well as apprenticeships in attractive professional fields. The requirements for this are qualified and committed employees.- for the epigenetic analysis of cell-free tumor DNA (ctDNA).- In patients with cancer in the reproductive phase of life, tumor therapy often leads to a reduction in fertility and subsequent unwanted childlessness. Therefore, one of the research foci of the BMBF-funded project “Fertility Protection Research Center Ulm - FePro Ulm” is to investigate the significance of tumor
- and therapy-associated changes in DNA integrity and DNA methylation for fertility in male patients as well as the determination of the diagnostic value of ctDNA and circulating tumor cells (CTCs). Due to the clinical relevance in the context of fertility preservation, the focus is on oncological diseases with typical manifestation in adolescence and young adulthood, in particular hematological neoplasms such as lymphomas, germ cell tumors and sarcomas.**Your assignment**:

- Project management and scientific collaboration in the development, organization and implementation of the FePro project
- Coordination of research activities in cooperation with project partners
- Planning, experimental implementation and bioinformatic evaluation of genome-wide analyses for the identification and characterization of (epi-)genetic alterations in typical tumor diseases of adolescence and young adulthood.
- Scientific cooperation in the presentation and publication of research results
- Participation in teaching activities on a limited scale

**Required qualifications**:

- PhD in any field of life sciences and knowledge of (human) genetics
- Experience in the field of (epi-)genetic analysis of ideally hematological neoplasms, germ cell tumors or sarcomas
- Familiarity with the special features of the (epi-)genetic characterization of cell-free DNA (cfDNA, liquid biopsies)
- Experience in Next-Generation-Sequencing (NGS)
- and array-based technologies including their laboratory implementation from sample preparation to data processing
