Industrial Designer in a Climate Tech Startup

**What you will be doing here**:
At MAGNOTHERM, we are developing a revolutionary refrigeration technology that has the potential to eliminate 40% of the energy demand and 100% of the direct greenhouse gas emissions in this sector. Our vision is to provide everyone with the cleanest and most sophisticated cooling solutions to reduce climate impact and costs. Founded in 2019, our start-up is a spin-off of the Technical University of Darmstadt.

We have built an outstanding technical team with expertise in various fields. With our second significant financing round, we are on the outlook to pair the design team with an innovation-driven industrial designer to bring this highly efficient, carbon-saving technology to market. Your expertise in industrial design, materials selection, and manufacturing processes will play a crucial role in driving our company's success - join us
- You are responsible for designing, prototyping, and testing new products (hardware).
- You conduct user research, user testing, and user feedback analysis.
- You translate our vision and mission as a company in compelling product designs.
- You work closely with the development and production team to build the future of refrigeration systems. You conduct trend research in product design, refrigeration, and innovative manufacturing techniques.

**what you would ideally bring to the table**:

- You have university degree in product design or industrial design or comparable degree/education.
- You have a keen eye for detail, ensuring that the final product meets design specifications and quality standards.
- You are able to think critically and problem-solving oriented, identifying design issues, and proposing effective solutions.
- You have proficiency in various design software, including Adobe Photoshop, AutoCAD, Solidworks, Fusion 360, Blender, Cinema4D, and/or similar CAD and 3D modelling programs.
- You have experience with user research, usability testing, and user-centred design methodologies.
- You have sufficient workshop experience to safely and confidently create prototypes.
- You have sufficient model building experience to work in 3D and are familiar with various prototyping tools and equipment.
- You have knowledge of common materials used in industrial production and manufacturing methods.
- You have experience in rapid prototyping methods.
- You are adaptable and open to feedback, able to iterate on designs and make improvements based on user and stakeholder feedback.
- You have excellent communication skills and are fluent English, German is a plus.
- You are intrinsically motivated to improve the world and are convinced that we can make a difference in fighting global warming.
