The Liquid Phase Separations Division in Waldbronn, Germany, is looking for an **R-D scientist (f/m/d) **with a** strong background in Liquid Chromatography** to become a part of our R-D Team.
- Innovate, develop and improve new and existing chromatography products ensuring they are fit-for-purpose and meet customer needs.
- Collaborate with marketing specialists, mechanical - electrical engineers, and software developers to understand requirements, explore new technologies, and guide product development by scientific evidence.
- Formulate, perform and interpret hypothesis-driven experiments to assess the impact of hardware designs on instrument performance and lifetime.
- Document experiments and decisions in a reproducible manner and present results to an internal and external audience (e.g. on scientific conferences).
**Qualifications**:
**Must Have**
- Academic degree in analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, bioengineering or related disciplines
- Proven ability to troubleshoot chromatography related issues
- Strong theoretical background in separation science with emphasis on liquid chromatography
- Demonstrated understanding of transport phenomena (i.e. fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mass transfer).
- Demonstrated affinity towards designing hardware and/ or software algorithms
**Nice to have**
- PhD level experience is a plus
- Experience in (U)HPLC instrument development and/or optimization strongly preferred
- Insights in hardware implementation of (U)HPLC instruments
- Familiar with Design of Experiments (DOE), Measurement System Analysis, or other statistical tools
- Experience with instrument control and data evaluation software, e.g. MATLAB, Python, etc.
**Additional skills**
- Time and priority management skills to juggle multiple projects with competing timelines and priorities
- Ability to organize and communicate sophisticated data sets clearly and concisely to key partners and diverse audiences
- Ability to work independently and in a cooperative environment
- Strong interpersonal skills paired with decision-making ability.
- Proficient in spoken and written English required, German language skills are a strong want.
