**About this job**:
As part of the assay development team within a life science company revolutionizing the protein production landscape, we are seeking a dynamic and motivated Senior Assay Development Scientist (all genders) to lead development and implementation of novel assays in this exciting area.

**Your responsibilities**:

- Lead a team to develop, qualify and implement novel assays in the emerging field of cell-free protein expression.
- Design, plan, supervise, and execute laboratory experiments performed by your team, critically reviewing data generated and associated reports.
- Ensure that the developed assays meet pharmaceutical standards and are suitable and robust.
- Compile and present analyzed data to facilitate decision making.
- Foster a culture of high performance and trust within an interdisciplinary team, mentoring and developing team members.
- Be responsible for the transfer of developed assays into routine analysis, including writing work instructions and providing operator training.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest literature and identify appropriate assays and analytical technologies to enhance the understanding and functional characterization of ALiCE.
- Bring a fresh perspective and out-of-the-box thinking to solve complex challenges.

**Requirements**:
This job will suit you best if you
- hold a PhD degree (or MSc degree with equivalent working experience), in biochemistry, molecular biology, biotechnology, or a similar field
- have at least 4 years of experience in assay development in an industrial environment (e.g. ELISA, enzyme activity, SPR, HPLC, cellular assays, flow cytometry, etc.)
- understand cellular biology and bioprocesses and have the ability to create links between measurements, biological components and process conditions
- have experience working under a quality system or GxP and familiarity with relevant industry guidelines
- have experience with the production and/or testing of cellular subsystems, such as mitochondria, microsomes and ribosomes (considered a plus)
- have experience with in vitro diagnostic (IVD) assay development (considered a plus)
- are familiar with protein production, cell-free protein expression and or plant cell physiology (considered a plus)
- combine a critical mindset and a hands-on attitude to identify and solve problems effectively
- enjoy working in a team and with professionals of varying expertise backgrounds
- enjoy coaching scientists and stakeholders of all experience levels about assay development
- are curious and have a passion for learning and overcoming challenges
- have excellent oral communication and technical writing skills in English
